Quilling paper apple in frame with quilling tools

I’m so excited to make one of these quilled apples this week!

Since I’ve closed my Etsy shop for the time being, I thought I would share some of the quillings that I created to sell there. I’ve never posted tutorials on any of those projects before; this is going to be so fun!

First, a flashback to 2012.

My son was a newborn and I was looking for a new way to be creative. I saw a bit of quilling online and I was immediately fascinated! After much practice and loads of trial and error, I decided to open up an Etsy shop.

Now I just had to figure out what to stock my shop with. I was inspired to make something different than the usual flower scene that I was seeing everywhere. And my sister’s kitchen was decorated in an apple theme at the time, so…

…a big apple it was!

I’m starting off with this project because it’s a good mix of technique. There’s a little traditional quilling, with some outlines, and some on-edge work as well.

Before you get started, you’ll want to print your own copy of my apple template. You can find that by clicking on the image below.

I’m including all the steps in my latest video.

To avoid some confusion with the measurements for the quilling paper apple peel and seed sections, I decided to make a small diagram to show the shapes and lengths of the strips to use.

I’ve never gone this route before, so let me know if this is more helpful that just a list!

So enjoy the video below!

And, please let me know any questions about this project and leave me your thoughts on the diagram with the measurements.

I’d love to know if this is something I should continue in future tutorial posts!
